Overview

Designed for thrill-seekers, this 8 Nights/9 Days Sikkim Adventure blends high-altitude drama, roaring rivers, and forested trails. Start in Gangtok with cable-car views before venturing into North Sikkim’s stark beauty—Gurudongmar Lake and flower-strewn Yumthang Valley. Then switch gears in West and South Sikkim: raft the Teesta, stride over Singshore suspension bridge, test your head for heights on Pelling’s glass skywalk, and hike inside Maenam Sanctuary. Scenic drives connect monasteries, tea gardens, and Himalayan viewpoints, while cozy stays and hearty mountain cuisine recharge you daily. Carefully paced for acclimatization, the itinerary includes permits, expert drivers, and optional add-ons like paragliding and Zero Point for a customizable, adrenaline-rich escape.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Bagdogra/NJP – Transfer to Gangtok, Ropeway & MG Marg

Welcome to Sikkim! Meet our representative at IXB/NJP and drive to Gangtok (4–5 hrs). Check in, rest, then ride the Gangtok Ropeway for sweeping valley views. Stroll MG Marg for cafés and local bites. Optional (time/weather permitting): short paragliding session at Baliman Dara. Briefing on altitude, permits, and safety. Overnight in Gangtok.

Drive to 12,400 ft Tsomgo (Changu) Lake for dramatic alpine scenery; try yak rides and snow play in season. Continue to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir. Optional (Indian nationals; permit/closure dependent): Nathula Pass on the Indo–China border. Return to Gangtok by evening. Tip: carry warm layers, gloves, sunglasses, and stay hydrated.

Scenic drive to Lachen (8–9 hrs). En route halt at Singhik View Point, Seven Sisters Waterfalls, and Naga Falls for photo ops and short nature walks. Reach Lachen by late afternoon, check in, light acclimatization stroll, early dinner. Prep for a very early start to Gurudongmar. Overnight in Lachen.

Pre-dawn drive to Gurudongmar Lake (17,800 ft; subject to permits, health, and weather). Spend brief time at the lake to avoid overexertion at altitude; return to Lachen for breakfast. Continue to Lachung (2–3 hrs). Rest and acclimatize. Evening at leisure in the village. Overnight in Lachung.

Post breakfast, drive to Yumthang Valley (11,800 ft), the ‘Valley of Flowers’. In snow season, enjoy snow fields; in spring, rhododendrons bloom. Optional: Yumesamdong/Zero Point (permit/extra vehicle, weather dependent). Return to Lachung for lunch, then drive back to Gangtok (5–6 hrs). Evening free. Overnight in Gangtok.

Check out and drive towards Pelling (5–6 hrs). En route, enjoy Grade II–III white-water rafting on the Teesta at Melli with certified guides and full safety gear. Arrive Pelling, check in. Later, visit the Chenrezig Statue & Glass Skywalk for vertigo-inducing views. Sunset over the Kanchenjunga range, weather permitting. Overnight in Pelling.

After breakfast, head to Singshore Suspension Bridge (one of Sikkim’s highest) for panorama and photo stops. Continue to Kanchenjunga & Rimbi Falls. Short hike to Khecheopalri Lake viewpoint through forested trails. Optional: mountain biking rental around Pelling/Yuksom or zipline (where available). Evening at leisure. Overnight in Pelling.

Transfer to Ravangla (2–3 hrs). Embark on a guided half-day hike inside Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary (route/length tailored to fitness and weather). Later, visit Temi Tea Garden for estate trails; optional zipline/mountain biking (subject to ops). Sunset at Buddha Park (Tathagata Tsal). Overnight in Ravangla.

After breakfast, drive to NJP/Bagdogra (5–6 hrs). Trip ends with Himalayan memories and adventure stories. Optional en route stop for local tea and souvenirs.

Essential Guidelines

Important Notes

  • Nathula Pass is open only to Indian nationals on designated days and requires an additional permit/transport; final approval is subject to army clearance and weather.
  • Access to North Sikkim is controlled. Permits are included for Indian nationals. Foreign nationals require Protected Area Permits and may have restrictions (e.g., Gurudongmar/Nathula not permitted). Carry valid government photo ID and passport/visa as applicable.
  • High-altitude travel involves risks. If you experience headache, nausea, or breathlessness, descend and inform the tour leader/driver immediately. Keep warm and hydrated.
  • Road conditions in the Himalayas are weather-dependent; expect long drives, possible delays, and itinerary resequencing for safety.
  • Recommended gear: warm layers, waterproof jacket, gloves, beanie, UV400 sunglasses, sunscreen (SPF 50+), lip balm, sturdy hiking shoes, personal medicines, reusable water bottle, and light daypack.
  • Adventure activities are weather and operator dependent. Age, weight, and health restrictions may apply.
  • Best seasons: March–June (clear views, blooms) and Oct–Dec (crisp skies). Jan–Feb for snow; July–Sept monsoon may affect roads.
